Alain Georges Frank Jacquet(1939-2008) was married to the daughter of Matisse: Sophie Matisse.
Alain Georges Frank Jacquet is very famous for his french version of american popart also referred to as new realism, nouveau réalisme in the 1960ths but he is also known for having been taken part in the italian based art movement Arte Povera which is interesting regarding this particular artifact now being sold by Gallery JT LTD for this fine art object may be a replica of a modern painting.
In 1967 the Genoese critic Germano Celant coined the term Arte Povera relevant for a group of italian artists who opposed to the usual realism in art with use of everyday materials in their creations of sculptures and happenings opposed to the role of art merely to reflect reality. Later exhibitions included work with startling juxtapositions of apparantly unconnected objects. They tried to transform the viewers understandings of known art objects and they therefore made replicas of famous figures and sculptures and paintings in new materials.
Arte Povera was a contemporary political radicalism and culminated in the students protests of 1968.
